What is NeuroStar?

NeuroStar is a non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to treat neurohealth conditions. It’s also known as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy.

Does NeuroStar work?

NeuroStar Advanced TMS therapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for depression in over 182,000 patients. 83% of patients experience an improvement in their depression symptoms, and 62% experience complete remission. Some patients may see improvement as early as the first or second week of treatment, and the results are said to be long-lasting, with some studies showing effectiveness for up to a year after treatment. Does NeuroStar hurt?

NeuroStar TMS therapy may cause some minor discomfort at the treatment site. This discomfort can feel like a tapping, tingling, or warm sensation, or like a minor headache. Most people adjust to the sensation within a week or two, and the discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication. Other side effects include involuntary eye blinking, facial muscle contraction, toothache, and skin pain.

Is NeuroStar covered by insurance?

NeuroStar Advanced Therapy is covered by most health plans, including Medicare and Tricare, in all 50 states. More than 95 major private insurers in the U.S. provide coverage, which represents 300 million people. Medicare provides 100% coverage for NeuroStar, which covers 61 million people.
